Beginner, Intermediate and Experienced modes allow you to choose the level of stability and control you need, or are ready to try, at the flip of a switch. And you can instantly return to steady flight using Panic Recovery with the push of a button in any flight mode. Oversized “tundra” tires make it possible to take off from and land on a variety of surfaces including thick grass, gravel paths, dirt trails and smooth pavement, or you can install the optional floats to fly from water—which adds to its unmatched versatility and capabilities.
The Carbon Cub S 2 is equipped with a 30-amp telemetry-capable ESC that provides a variety of real-time power system related telemetry data including motor RPM, current, battery voltage and more to compatible Spektrum AirWare equipped transmitters, and even approximate flight battery power remaining via multiple LEDs on the DXS transmitter included with the RTF Basic version. And you have the option to easily upgrade to SAFE Plus GPS-enabled technology that offers features such as AutoLand and Virtual Fence, along with the option to install the Landing Assist Sensor (LAS) that automatically “flares” for smoother landings, to make learning to fly—and to land safely—easier than ever!
The Ready-To-Fly (RTF) Basic version includes everything needed to fly in one box except for a battery and charger. This allows you to choose a convenient and money-saving Spektrum Powerstage bundle or the separate battery and charger you prefer! Plus the included Spektrum DXS 2.4GHz transmitter can be used with other Bind-N-Fly (BNF) and BNF Basic aircraft after you learn to fly successfully! A BNF Basic version is also available for experienced pilots who want to use their favorite Spektrum transmitter along with batteries and chargers they may already own. And for both versions, the powerful and efficient brushless power system including a telemetry-capable ESC, flight controller, receiver and servos, are all factory-installed in the durable EPO airframe that assembles quickly and easily without the need for glue or special tools.
And the fun doesn’t stop after you learn how to fly! In the Experienced Mode, the Carbon Cub S 2 is capable of performing aerobatic maneuvers including loops, rolls, inverted (upside down) flight and more. You can even use the same DXS transmitter that’s included with the RTF Basic version, along with the same battery and charger you use for the Carbon Cub, to fly a variety of BNF Basic version “Next Step” aircraft including the E-flite T-28 Trojan 1.1m, the Valiant 1.3m and others!
You can also purchase the RealFlight Trainer Edition RC Flight Simulator and a Spektrum WS2000 Wireless Simulator Dongle (both sold separately) to fly this and other models using the transmitter included with the RTF Basic version! The simulator features many of the most popular Horizon Hobby trainer aircraft and built-in Virtual Flight Instructor lessons. This helps new pilots learn to fly successfully by practicing on a PC at home or on a laptop just about anywhere else!
Ready-To-Fly Basic Flexibility
This Ready-To-Fly (RTF) Basic version includes a Spektrum DXS controller/transmitter equipped with industry-leading DSMX 2.4GHz technology and everything else you need to fly except for a rechargeable lithium polymer (LiPo) battery and charger for the airplane. The convenient and money-saving Spektrum Powerstage 2 bundle (SPMXPSA200) includes a compatible 3S 2200mAh Smart G2 LiPo battery and an S120 USB-C Smart charger that can be used with a variety of USB power sources. Or you can choose the separate 3S 1300–2200mAh battery and compatible charger you prefer!
Telemetry Capable
The Carbon Cub S 2 1.3m is equipped with a telemetry-capable ESC that can provide a variety of real-time power system related telemetry data to compatible transmitters. This includes approximate flight battery power remaining via multiple LEDs and audible alerts from the DXS transmitter included with the RTF Basic version. It will also provide motor RPM, current, overall battery voltage and more to Spektrum AirWare equipped transmitters (including the DX6e and 8e, DX6 G2/G3 and 8 G2, the DX9, the NX6, 8 and 10, the iX12, iX20 and others) while you fly.
Durable Design
Construction with advanced EPO material delivers a lightweight yet durable airframe that’s tough enough to handle everyday flying punishment without getting bent out of shape. And in the unfortunate event you damage any airframe parts or components and can’t repair them, a full line of replacement parts is readily available.
Easy Assembly
The Carbon Cub S 2 arrives mostly factory-assembled with the power system, servos, flight controller and receiver installed. All you need to do is finish some quick and easy final assembly, without the use of glue or special tools, and you’ll be ready to fly in less time than it takes to charge a battery!
Versatile Gear Options
Thick grass, gravel paths, dirt trails; you can fly from these and many other surfaces that are impossible for most models of this size to handle. The robust landing gear is equipped with oversized tires that soak up the bumps of rough surfaces and provide excellent prop clearance. The optional float set (HBZ7390, sold separately) takes just a few minutes to install and all the necessary hardware is included with the aircraft and float set so you can fly from lakes and ponds.
Optional Flaps
Functional flaps are an option for improved slow speed handling and even shorter takeoffs and landings. This feature requires a 7+ channel computer transmitter plus a flap servo and a servo extension (sold separately).
Optional Landing Assist Sensor for Smoother Landings
The Spektrum Landing Assist Sensor (LAS) is easy to install and provides automatic “flare” control to help inexperienced pilots “grease” landings by minimizing or completely eliminating bouncing (works over many/most surfaces and provides optimum performance when flying over/landing in grass).
Easily Upgrade to SAFE Plus GPS-Enabled Technology
With quick and easy installation of the optional Spektrum GPS Module (SPMA3173; sold separately), you can add next-level autonomous guidance features that make it even easier to learn to fly. With SAFE Plus added, you get:
- AutoLand
Activated by simply holding down a button, the advanced AutoLand function puts the airplane on a stabilized approach to land on its own near the GPS initialization point. You can even provide some directional guidance to avoid obstacles or to adjust the approach while letting the system do the rest to execute a safe landing. As your skills progress and you gain more confidence, you can take over more control inputs, eventually learning to land without any assistance from the automated system. - Holding Pattern
This beneficial SAFE Plus-exclusive feature allows you to “pause” the flight by putting the airplane into a GPS-guided holding pattern. When activated with the quick press of a button, the aircraft will automatically return to a position above the GPS initialization point and circle until the command is canceled with another quick press of the button. It’s a great way to safely hand the controls off to a friend or regain visual contact if you ever lose sight of the model. - Virtual Fence
It’s easy to accidentally let an RC airplane fly too far away, but with Virtual Fence, worry no more! It creates an invisible boundary the airplane won’t fly past. When the plane reaches this boundary, it will automatically turn around and fly back toward the GPS initialization point. Then it will “wag” the wings to let you know when you have control again.
Learn to Fly Successfully with SAFE Technology
If this is your first RC airplane, Horizon Hobby-exclusive SAFE (Sensor Assisted Flight Envelope) technology prevents over-control and crashing while also offering multiple flight modes to deliver more control and capabilities as your skills progress:
- Beginner Mode
Pitch and bank angle limits prevent over-control that can result in a loss of orientation and crashes. When the control sticks are released the airplane returns to level flight on its own. Best of all takeoffs are as simple as giving full throttle and letting the airplane fly off the ground or by giving it a quick hand launch. - Intermediate Mode
More freedom in pitch and bank, but still prevents over-control and does not return to level flight on its own. This mode allows you to make tighter turns and to climb and descend faster as your skills advance. Beginner mode automatically activates and returns the airplane to level flight when the airplane descends below approximately 30 feet above ground level and the sticks are released. - Experienced Mode
No pitch or bank angle limits so you have complete control! You can even fly inverted (upside down) and perform aerobatic maneuvers including loops, rolls, stall turns and more. Panic Recovery Mode can be activated by switching to Beginner Mode and releasing the sticks. - Panic Recovery
If you ever lose control of the airplane in the more advanced control modes simply switch to Beginner Mode and release the control sticks. SAFE technology will automatically return the airplane to level flight.

Videos | This is the AFX 1970 Corvette Red w/Yellow Wildfire Mega G+ HO Slot Car
Nothing beats the world famous sports car, the C3 3rd generation Corvette. Designed by Russian Zora Arkus-Duntov, the body was patterned after the Mako Shark II designed in 1965. The C3 body would go on to be produced from 1968 through to 1982. Not only was the Corvette one of the coolest looking American sports cars, in its time it was also one of the fastest. Able to run at 140 mph with little to no effort, specific tires were designed to reliably sustain and stabilize the car at such high speeds.
In an effort to pack more punch in less space, Chevrolet focused on smaller-displacement engines and in 1970, they introduced the LT-1. A 350 cubic inch engine with factory rated 370 horsepower. An unprecedented size and number for sports cars at the time.
AFX Wild Fire Flames are proprietary custom designs. But we certainly weren’t the first folks to paint flames on the side of a hot rod.
The first flames to appear on a hot rod were literal flames. Captured in a perfectly timed photograph on October 20th, 1938 by the Carroll Photo Company. Driver Fred Friday zipped his car through Gilmore Stadium when his car alighted in flames from a fuel leak. The idea that a car had been driven so furiously as to emit flames inspired hot rod and muscle car fans across the country. Friday survived the race, happily, and totally unaware of what his unique race performance had ignited.
World War II followed swiftly after bringing with it the trend of “nose art” - the decorative painting of an aircraft’s front fuselage. Though originally intended to identify friendly planes, the practice quickly evolved into an expression of individuality. The aircraft “nose art” was showcased to the general public and the idea spread like, well, wildfire.
By the 1950s the custom hot rod craze peaked. Returning veterans were drawn to both the thrill of racing and the new outlet for self-expression. With the booming economy of post-war America, hot rodders and muscle car lovers brought their designs to life with access to custom parts and professional designers.

It began in 1966 with the J-Car just after LeMans. Ken Miles was test driving the car when it crashed on an embankment, bursting into flames. The rest is heavy-hearted history. There were only 10 made, only half of which ever actually raced. However, the MKIV is known for breaking records both at home and abroad. It only ran in two races: the Sebring 12 Hours and the 24 Hours of Le Mans – the most prestigious race events in all of motorsport. It won both. These victories were no accident. Ford made sure of that. The car was specifically, painstakingly designed for endurance, designed for speed…designed to win. Each element of the MKIV was totally different from other GT40s, starting with where it was made. Unlike its predecessors the MKI and ll cars which were built entirely or partly in Europe, the MKIV was built from scratch in the United States. A little “skunk works” company called Kar Kraft built the all-new J series chassis and newly designed long, streamlined bodywork for Ford’s Special Vehicles Activity. The MKIV was easily the most radical variant of all the GT40s. Other modifications were made as well. A NASCAR-style, steel-tube roll cage was added as a direct result of beloved racer Ken Miles’ tragic death while testing the first J Car. Though it was significantly safer, the roll cage was incredibly heavy which hurt the car’s performance. The 1967 Ford GT40 Mk IV #9 was on the J-9 chassis which was specifically crafted as a Group 7 Can-Am racer. It featured a powerful 3-valve, all-alloy 427 Ford V8 engine—an engineering marvel designed for blistering performance. Built to dominate, its brutal, raw power is palpable. In fact, after testing the car, legendary driver Mario Andretti said the J-9 one of the “scariest cars” he had ever driven. Overview
The HobbyZone Mini AeroScout makes learning to fly RC airplanes in more places and smaller spaces easy and fun! Inspired by the extremely popular AeroScout S, its "mini" size makes it a perfect smaller trainer model that can be flown in large parks, soccer fields, football fields and other suitable spaces where larger models can't typically be flown. It features incredibly durable EPP construction with the same pusher power configuration as its larger counterpart for improved safety plus better propeller and motor protection that makes it the most durable HobbyZone airplane yet!
This makes it possible for first-time RC pilots to learn to fly successfully with one of the most durable hobby-quality trainers ever. It's also extremely easy to assemble and repair if needed because – unlike other similar class models – the major airframe parts including the wing and tail simply bolt or snap into place…no glue or tape required!
Best of all it's a Ready-To-Fly (RTF) aircraft so it includes a controller/transmitter equipped with 2.4GHz technology, AA batteries for the transmitter, plus a rechargeable LiPo flight battery and convenient USB charger. That means there's nothing extra to buy or provide so you can fly!
And the fun doesn't stop after you learn how to fly! It's lightweight yet durable airframe is equipped with a powerful electric motor that delivers long flight times and provides plenty of speed and power to perform aerobatic maneuvers including loops, rolls and more. That means the Mini AeroScout is a model even experienced RC pilots will appreciate and enjoy flying – and can also use to teach others to fly.

Even now, 50 years later, folks still rank it top of the list. Only slightly changed from its predecessor the year before, the 1972 Chevelle came with a rear-facing Cowl Induction hood that allowed air into the engine so it could spread its proverbial wings.
